Setting Intention
Before important conversations, it's helpful to set a clear intention and prepare your nervous system. This ritual helps you arrive present, open, and ready to listen.
The Ritual
- Grounding: Take three deep breaths. Feel your feet on the ground. Notice your body.
- Intention: Ask yourself: "What do I want to create in this conversation?" Set a clear intention.
- Openness: Imagine your heart opening. Create space to receive what the other person is sharing.
- Presence: Bring your full attention to the present moment. Let go of past stories or future worries.
- Courage: Acknowledge any fear or resistance. Breathe into it. You can be scared and still show up.
- Compassion: Extend compassion to yourself and the other person. Remember: everyone is doing their best.
- Readiness: Take one final breath. You are ready. You have everything you need.
